Me, Barcelona, Phillipe Coutinho and The Semi-Final UCL
I want Barcelona as Liverpool opponent far away since round 16 draw. I want them so bad, in the matter of fact, they maybe feel the same. They already thrashed multiple English clubs except for Liverpool. I mean, once in 2007. And it didn't thrash, just a 1-0. When Messi wasn't a beast. Not yet.
And I don't know why since that, Barca vs LFC never happens again in UCL of course. Two clubs with some European Royalties, with great passion and tradition, with some amazing players, and shit transfer policies by hijacking our best players. Two last reasons drag me to some love-hate relationship to this club. And make the next meeting more interesting to me.
Let me tell you something. For some reason, Barca alongside Liverpool and AC Milan were my favourites club. Back when I was junior schooler.
No, not because of Messi. But because a man who did magic in Real Madrid TV on our home, got a standing ovation and became the legend of the club. Ronaldinho, the man who made me love Barcelona. I knew Barcelona since Rijkaard era in short.
Yeah, that era wasn't good enough until they found a gem in Lionel Andres Messi. With their own man over a stubborn bus driver as a replacement for Rijkaard, that era marked as the golden era of Barcelona.
Pep Guardiola evolved football with his philosophy. And alongside his homegrown talent, cheap yet smart buying, and good management, they won multiple cups. His philosophy conquered Spanish football, Europe, and later for about six years of conquered world football by Spanish National Team with Barcelona players as the core.
I don't know if you all realized it, but since 2011-2012, Barca started heavily dependent on Messi. And Barcelona I knew never depended to a single player. Yes, Messi was, is, and will be the greatest Barcelona player ever but It sacrificed many things. Including the youngsters from La Masia. One of the many things people remember them.
Pedro Rodiguez, Bojan Krkic, Ibrahim Affellay, Issac Cuenca, Oriol Romeu, Marc Batra, Marc Muniesa, and many others including the latest Gerard Deulofeu. All of these youngsters failed to have a great carrier like Messi. And maybe the same season, they began to buy some decent, non-Spain players just to support Messi. Starting from Alexis Sanchez. No place for any kid. Just good players who can help Messi.
They wanted to be like Messi. But they couldn't because of... Messi.
And that moment, I stopped supporting them.
Fast forward when they hijacked our finest talent. When they robbed Suarez, it was hard and finally, it was fine for me. At some point, Suarez deserved something better after his last year at England. Just enough attacked by the press and it was getting worse by his infamous World Cup bite and failed to get the title. Everything turned into a nightmare for him. He deserved to be a Barcelona player. I smiled too when he lifted Champions League trophy as the closure of his very first treble.
It was different for... I don't wanna say his name correctly but... Coutinho. This kid is way different. Suarez was a legit star, even when he still at Groningen and Ajax. This kid... man... just Poch who could see what he could do back when he was an Espanyol player. And the man with character, Brendan Rodgers. Without Liverpool, he just... nothing. An ordinary Brazilian man. Played once in Europe and then travelling around the world for playing chances. Or if it's possible, became the best player in a random lower league. Maybe he can play in Indonesia, with Persib or Persija.
He became a star, a great player and then left Liverpool with THE WORST WAY in club history, or maybe England Football history. Named it, faking his "back" injury. Requesting transfer when not just Klopp who ignore it, but everyone in Liverpool front desk. Not playing again because of his "back injury rehabilitation". And then, after Salah-Firminho-Mane trio was on fire, he fucking left. When the club finally had a very good moment and maybe grabbed FA Cup or Champions League. But still, he left. He fucking left. Another worst thing, Nike leaked that move like it was nothing to Liverpool fans.
When I wanted him to get some bad injury, It wasn't a troll. It was real. Because I could's stop thinking about Kiev for some moment and stupidly imagined he still with us. Let's just kept the original things happened. Chamberlain got injury against Roma and he was there. We would win convincingly in Roma. Went to Kiev without any burden. Salah got injured by that Spaniard bastard. Karius did the "mistakes". But he was there. Stepped up and took Salah's role. Put some great pass, did some sweet placing shot. I believed the match will be ended up with 4-3. Another glorious European comeback for Liverpool. And the Little Magician of Brazil, Philippe Coutinho, led them to glory once again.
I saw him, hold the trophy with happiness and relief. Very proud of himself. After five years like he was nothing, now he could pronounce himself proudly when he flew to Russia for the World Cup as a European Champion. His confidence peaked and he single-handedly led Brazil to their sixth World Cup title. Because of it, Ballon d'Or was the last prize for Phillipe Coutinho. He was the man who broke Messi-Ronaldo Ballon d'Or long duopoly.
But again, he fucking left and it didn't happen.
So yes. I was a Barcelona fan. And stopped being a fan with the reason why most people being a Barcelona fan. And the hate for them really peaked with Phil Coutinho transfer saga.
Lionel Messi can beat us 3 goals or more at Camp Nou.
But remember this thing. The second leg, you will visit Anfield.
Tell Messi to prepare his tissue pack. Tell other players to drink some Xanax, especially Roberto, Semedo and Alba. Tell Phil to use some earbud. Tell everybody to prepare.
Because my guy at Anfield will welcome all of you "warmly".
Bring it on, Barcelona.
Bring.
It.
On.
Bring.
It.
On.
The swing from Bellamy marked our 1-2 victory. |
